Like Water and Other Stories
A fun and deep conversation with Olga Zilberbourg about her outstanding short story collection Like Water and Other Stories which took us on many journeys through and beyond superstitions, bisexuality, writerly inspiration and the broadening of the canon of post Soviet lit. We discussed Olga Zilberbourg and Yelena Furman's blog Punctured Lines and Olga Zilberbourg's upcoming novel about a teenage girl as she confronts her parents’ agonizing decision to immigrate to the United States in 1990.
A Powerful Evening
The Words on War Event on May 4, part of the Bay Area Book Festival Prologue 2023, was a special evening. Thank you to DecoDance Bar for hosting this reading. So powerful to come together as community across genres and backgrounds. An honor to read with so many talented authors, including Andrey Kurkov, a Ukrainian author, of over 20 novels and 10 books for children.
